Budapest public transport options – don’t panic if you travel in the city

The capital of Hungary is a large city with more than 2 million citizens and many tourists but still is not as big as other European capitals. Therefore, travelling in the city is also easier. Luckily there are many Budapest public transport options you can use when you are in the city.

1. The most common is ’the metro’ which has four lines. We hardly recommend to try ’Metro 1’ because this is the oldest in Budapest and the nicest as well. It has its own mood.

2. Tram: there are a wide range of tram lines in the city. The most famous one is 4-6 tram which cross the main points of the downtown

3. Buses and trolleybuses: these are the most regular types of public transport. To the suburb of the city you can mainly go by a simple bus.

In all metro stations you can buy tickets daily and longer types as well. Believe us you won’t get lost in the city. Use Google Maps or other apps to orientate or ask the Hungarians to help you. 😊
